New Orleans native, Kuti fell in love with music when burning mix CDs as a kid while her family would travel on the road. To Kuti, music is communal, and the people, conversations and visuals fuel the vibe while she, as the curator or DJ, drives the ship. Her style aims to connect with individual souls through nostalgia and feel good cuts while contributing to the overall energy of the space she commands. Kuti is a WTUL DJ and a soon-to-be alumni of Tulane. She has co-produced over 25 instrumental beat tapes and is also a visual artist and graphic designer. Her influences range from the pioneering ladies of Hip Hop to jazz legends like Bobbi Humphries and Billie Holiday, to local legend DJ Soul Sister. In the words of Alice Coltrane, “Creation could not have been rendered, not even considered, let alone be brought into manifestation without woman”.
