Shayna T. Blum is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Xavier University of Louisiana and the Principal of Blum Visual Communication Laboratory. She received her Master of Fine Art in Design and Technology at the San Francisco Art Institute, 2009; Post Baccalaureate in Text and Image Art at the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, 2005; and Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting at Lyme Academy College of Fine Art, 2001.
Blum has held academic positions at Monmouth University, Briarcliffe College, Union County College, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. From 2012–2014, Blum lectured at Dar Al Hekma University in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Blum is the recipient of the Mellon Grant, 2015; Paul and Eleanor Harper Fellowship, 2007; and Breckenridge Artist in Residence Fellowship, 2006. Her research focuses on Visual Communication within Middle East and North African culture. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally, and has been published online and in print.
