Sarah Quintana is a singer-songwriter with a background in jazz and folk music. A charming performer, dedicated instrumentalist and composer, she was born and raised in New Orleans on the Mississippi river delta: a land as rich and diverse in its cultural heritage as in its natural resources. Quintana uses her music to pay homage to the strength and fragility of Louisiana’s traditions— and environment, the wetlands.

Quintana's latest work, The Delta Demitasse, is a series of music and video produced by Kat Sotelo, imagined at A Studio in the Woods (www.astudiointhewoods.org). The Delta Demitasse debuts at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, NOV2013- JAN2014 and will be available on DVD at www.sarahquintana.com and on CD BABY.

With a background rich in roots music— blues, folk and cajun— Quintana plays what she loves and incorporates improvisation into her songwriting and interpretations of classics. Although known for her vocal style and range, her first love, the guitar, taught her how to sing: “Singing jazz, It helps to play a harmonic instrument.” Quintana studied jazz at NOCCA and developed her skills through working alongside many American and French musicians.

Quintana splits her time between New Orleans and France and tours with La Companie Nine Spirit led by saxophonist Raphael Imbert. In various jazz formations, Quintana also tours with French and American artists on a vast repertoire of Americana, jazz, folk, French, standards and compositions. She is a member of the Pantheatre and studies the Roy Hart vocal technique under Linda Wise and Kaya Anderson.
