Loren Schwerd received a BFA from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) and an MFA from Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY). She has been granted artist residencies at institutions such as the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, Art Omi International Artists Residency, Millay Colony, and Sitka Center for Art and Ecology.

Schwerd's works have been exhibited at The Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design (Asheville, NC), the Dana Women Artist Series at Rutgers University (New Jersey), the State University of New Jersey, the Dorsky Curatorial Projects (Long Island City, NY), the international art biennial Prospect 1.5 New Orleans, the Craft Alliance (St. Louis, MO), the Luckman Gallery at California State University, and the La Triennale di Milano Design Museum (Milan, Italy). Schwerd’s works have been featured in the documentary film City of Memory directed by Robert Adanto and in international publications such as Design 360 Magazine, Issues in Science and Technology, and FiberArt Magazine. Schwerd teaches Design and Sculpture at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
