Chipo Kandake is a Visual Artist and Dance Ethnographer who studies dance movement as it relates to social life and culture throughout the Afro-diaspora. Kandake received her BA at Dillard University (New Orleans, LA) in Filmmaking. There she studied in New Orleans and abroad (Dominican Republic, Cuba) the landscape of dance and its connection to culture, community, and spiritual energy within the human body. She is currently the director of Media & Content of Material Life, a pop-up retail boutique at the CAC.
