Elliott Stokes

Elliott Stokes is from New Orleans, Louisiana. He received a Bachelor of Arts at Southeastern Louisiana University in Spring 2015. Stokes is a first year Master of Fine Arts candidate at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, with a concentration in Painting, Sculpture, and New Media.

Stokes utilizes interdisciplinary skills, producing a web of visually stimulating artwork, including street photography, observational drawing, abstract painting, woodcuts, relief/monotype printing, screen-printing, large-scale installations, sculpture, manufacturing experiences, social practice, activism, community engagement and outreach. Critical exchanges have been an area of focus in his first-year as a graduate student, leading him to form a labor exchange initiative, which has brought him into contact with a myriad of individuals. The uniting thread in his work if the process of harnessing emotions, feelings, memories, and focusing such energy into artistic practices created through sincere expression.
