Ashley Teamer and Marta Rodriguez Maleck make up a collaborative duo who call themselves Double Diamond. Both artists are from New Orleans and received their art education at different east coast universities. Their work explores identity, race, and familial ties through immersive installation and performance works. But I Didn’t Mean It Like That explores the fictional marriage of their characters Blaze and Ma. Double Diamond’s goal with their work is to illustrate how all humans have subjective perceptions of the world around them through their own experiences.
