Art Is Essential. Art Makes Us Resilient. Support the CAC TODAY on #GivingTuesdayNow. Thank you!

Dear Friends of the CAC,

Arts and culture are an essential service. Museums are the custodians of civic space and public commons. They exist for the health, well-being, and betterment of our society. As we recover from this pandemic, performing and visual artists will be at the heart of New Orleans’ resilience.

Today -- Tuesday, May 5th -- I invite you to join us for #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of generosity and unity. The Contemporary Arts Center is committed to bringing exceptional contemporary art to New Orleans, empowering the city’s artist community, and serving as a hub for critical conversations that resonate in our time. Please include the CAC in your giving tomorrow with a gift to our Annual Fund.

We are eager to reopen our galleries and theater, and once again be a place of artistic creation and convergence. Art is nothing without community, which is why we cannot do this without your support. In the words of Gus Bennett, photographer and creator of The New Orleans People Project:

"I merge art and people. In New Orleans, we are the art. As long as we are resilient the art is resilient, they are one and the same."

In health,

George Scheer
Executive Director
Contemporary Arts Center
