The Birdfoot Festival will fill the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans May 26–29 with its annual celebration of dynamic live chamber music as part of its residency partnership with the CAC.
Celebrating its fourth season, Birdfoot Festival has gained an enthusiastic following and won glowing critical reviews for its fresh approach to presenting chamber music and its “youthful, rulebending style.”
In 2015, the Birdfoot Festival once again makes downtown New Orleans its home, rehearsing, performing, and staging its citywide performances, Chamber Music Mentoring Program, and outreach events from the CAC. This year, the Birdfoot Festival marks the ten-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with Waterlines, a series of events that honor the palpable and invisible legacies that remain after the storm passes and the water recedes. On Friday, May 29th, Birdfoot's evening concert, Waterlines: A Hymn to New Orleans at 8 p.m., will be preceded by Waterlines: Poetry and Spoken Word, in the CAC’s Freeport-McMoRan Theater.
The Birdfoot Festival 2015 @ the CAC residency will also feature a lunchtime performance and discussion on Tuesday, May 26 at 12:30 p.m. in the Spun Café, and open rehearsals where the public is invited to observe Birdfoot artists at work.
