As a collaborative duo called “Double Diamond,” Marta Rodriguez Maleck and Ashley Teamer started collaborating in 2014. Their shows in New Orleans include IRL/URL and But I Didn’t Mean it Like That, a multimedia installation during Prospect.4 at the Front Gallery. The artists received the Platforms Grant and Jazz and Heritage Grant in 2018.
Marta Rodriguez Maleck is an international artist whose work explores self-care, trauma, childhood, educational issues, family, and Hispanic identity. She has held residencies at FUTURA; the Center for Contemporary Art in Prague; Popps Packing (Detroit, MI); and at ACRE (Steuben, WI). Ashley Teamer was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her multimedia artwork explores the complexities of black femininity through painting, collage, and animation. She was an Artist-in-Residence at the Joan Mitchell Center and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Most recently, Teamer showed work at Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA; Los Angeles LGBT Center, CA; and Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles, CA.
