The P.4 Teen Convening will gather youth from across New Orleans to reflect and respond to the city-wide exhibition, Prospect.4: The Lotus in Spite of the Swamp.
P.4 invites a conversation about the transnational movement of human bodies and the constellation of cultural artifacts that move with them - objects, sounds, movements, memories. This convening will be used to reflect on New Orleans as a meaningful and unique focal point in this ongoing global history, from colonialism and the Transatlantic Slave trade, to current debates about culture and representation in the city.
Through gallery talks, youth performances and hands-on workshops, participants will be pushed to consider the way in which art can enable reflection, critique and transformation.
