Hannibal Lokumbe In Concert
Contemporary Arts Center, Freeport-McMoRan Theater
The Contemporary Arts Center is celebrating the compositions that trumpeter and poet Hannibal Lokumbe produced during his past residencies at the CAC with two unique performances on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 7:30pm.
Hannibal will be joined each night by a chorus of Dillard University and Nicholls State University students under the direction of choral master Valerie Francis, along with his Music Liberation Orchestra:
- Piano: Anthony Wonsey
- Solo Vocal: Phillip Manuel
- Bass: David Palphus
- Drums: Kevin Washington
Hannibal Lokumbe founded the Music Liberation Orchestra to teach genealogy, music, and journaling to inmates and young people who have been labeled “at risk.”
This project is made possible in part by support from the National Performance Network (NPN) Performance Residency Program. For more information: www.npnweb.org.
