Uptown/Downtown Series - The Whole Drum Truth

Contemporary Arts Center

8pm

Legendary modern jazz drumming masters come together in a unique, all-percussion quartet, led by Tootie Heath and also featuring Billy Hart, Louis Hayes and Idris Muhammad.

The Whole Drum Truth moves the drums from the "back line" into the spotlight, featuring new compositions written by the musicians that will be premiered at the concert. The music is all-percussion, but melodies shine through because of the drummers' subtle artistry on their tuned instruments. For more information, visit www.thewholedrumtruth.com.

Featuring:

Tootie Heath, leader - drummer for John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, the Modern Jazz Quartet and currently The Heath Brothers.

Billy Hart - drummer for Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, McCoy Tyner and currently leader of the Billy Hart Quartet.

Louis Hayes - drummer for Cannonball Adderley, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard and currently leader of the Cannonball Legacy band.
