The Birdfoot Festival will fill the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans May 24–28 with its annual celebration of dynamic live chamber music as part of its residency partnership with the CAC.
Celebrating its fifth season, Birdfoot Festival has gained an enthusiastic following and won glowing critical reviews for its fresh approach to presenting chamber music and its “youthful, rulebending style.”
In 2016, the Birdfoot Festival once again makes downtown New Orleans its home, rehearsing, performing, and staging its citywide performances, Young Artist Chamber Music Program, and outreach events from the CAC.
Birdfoot's evening concert at the CAC, Ma Mère l'Oye takes place on Friday, May 27 at 8pm. Follow the trail of breadcrumbs into a musical world of myths and fairy tales: Ravel’s beloved Mother Goose Suite, Webern’s ephemeral bagatelles, Dvorak’s epic bass quintet, and the world premiere of Prach Boondiskulchok’s chamber song-cycle Goose Daughter.
The Ma Mère l’Oye concert will be preceded by a 7pm performance by Birdfoot Festival Young Artist Program student ensembles.
The Birdfoot Festival 2016 @ the CAC residency will also feature open rehearsals where the public is invited to observe Birdfoot artists at work.
